Gibraltar Airport (which is not part of Spain as a lot of readers pointed out) is a very unusual airport. To my knowledge, it is the only one where the runway actually intersects with a major highway. When a plane has to take off or land, traffic is shut down. The History Channel program Most Extreme Airports ranks it as the fifth most dangerous airport in the world and the most dangerous in Europe. We have heard of highways being used as runways in some countries. But this is the first time I have seen roads crossing a runway and road traffic being stopped by a traffic light while an aircraft takes off or lands! Absolutely amazing! British Gibraltar has very little area, and the important airport runway takes up a major portion of land. To drive from Gibraltar to Spain, vehicles must cross the runway. Check out this amazing airport. Enjoy.

I think the title pretty much sums it up. Knitting is a method by which thread or yarn may be turned into cloth or other fine crafts. Knitted fabric consists of consecutive rows of loops, called stitches. As each row progresses, a new loop is pulled through an existing loop. The active stitches are held on a needle until another loop can be passed through them. This process eventually results in a final product, often a garment. Patricia Waller is an artist with an interesting sense of humor. Here are some of her brilliantly bizarre crocheted works of plush toys knitted into cruel death scenes. Perhaps these dolls are the perfect gift for your next baby shower. Check it out. Enjoy.

The resort Villa Escudero is located in the Quezon province in the Philippines where visitors can dine at a unique waterfall restaurant. Sitting at the foot of the Labasin Falls, this eating establishment allows people to slip off their shoes and sit down at one of their many benches where their feet are bathed in cool water. You can even submerge yourself in the water if you want. Take a look at this awesome eatery in Quezon Province, Villa Escudero, Philippines. It has breathtaking views and water is actually running over and under your feet. I bet cleaning the floor there is a cinch! Enjoy.

Want to understand a culture better? Just attend one of its celebrations. Welcome to the wacky world of cultural festivals, which are as integral to society as laws and taxes. Festivals and holidays, of course, break up the normal routine of everyday life, create reasons for parades, allow for exchanging of presents, and provide excuses for large meals. But most important, they allow people to celebrate a significant aspect of their culture — whatever it might be.

In architecture, a gargoyle is a carved stone grotesque, usually made of granite, with a spout designed to convey water from a roof and away from the side of a building thereby preventing rainwater from running down masonry walls and eroding the mortar between. Architects often used multiple gargoyles on buildings to divide the flow of rainwater off the roof to minimize the potential damage from a rainstorm. A trough is cut in the back of the gargoyle and rainwater typically exits through the open mouth. Gargoyles are usually an elongated fantastic animal because the length of the gargoyle determines how far water is thrown from the wall. When Gothic flying buttresses were used, aqueducts were sometimes cut into the buttress to divert water over the aisle walls.
